ADMISSION NOTICE

A few seats are still vacant in B.A. Honours Degree Courses, (Bengali, English, Philosophy, Sanskrit, History, Hindi, Pol. Sc., Economics and Urdu) and in B.Sc. Honours Degree Courses, (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Geology, Zoology, Botany, Physiology, Economics) in SC, ST, OBC-A and OBC-B categories. Interested enlisted candidates of the said category from merit points in previously published notices to the end merit point of full Honours merit list of Hooghly Mohsin College for Admission 2017-18, are requested to take admission in Hooghly Mohsin College on 28/07/2017 (Friday) and are directed to follow the underling guidelines.

  • Candidates, called for Counselling, must reach the College premises strictly within 11am. The College Main Gate will be closed at 11am sharply.
  • After the stipulated time no candidate will be allowed to enter the college premises for Counselling.
  • Candidates are directed to show the downloaded filled-in forms duly signed by him/her and by his/her guardian at the college Main gate.
  • If the candidate suffers from illness, then his/her Guardian will be allowed to enter the College premises, but, in that case, only one person will be allowed.
  • After entering the college premises the candidates are directed to follow the guidelines of Annexure -I and Annexure - II.

ANNEXURE-I

Original documents and their self-attested photocopies to be produced at the time of verification of testimonials in College Admission:

  • Original Marks-sheet of (10+2) level examination and its photocopy
  • Original School leaving Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended (non - returnable)
  • Age proof document (admit card of Secondary Examination / Birth Certificate ) and its photocopy
  • Six copies of recent passport size and two stamp size photograph (unattested).
  • Receipt of downloaded filled-in form duly signed by the candidate  (non-returnable).
  • Bank money receipt / or Challan copy of Application fees submitted to SBI (any branch)
  • Candidates have to pay Admission Fees (as stated below) on the date of Counselling-cum-Admission at Cash Office [Room no. SG19 (P2)].
  • Applicants, already admitted in any other institution, have to produce Cancellation Certificate within 10 working days from the date of verification, otherwise, his candidature will be treated as Cancelled.
  • Original SC / ST/ OBC-A & B / PH Certificate and its photocopy (Certificate should be issued by either MP or MLA or Member of Zilla Parishad or Municipal Councilor or Municipal Commissioner or Group “A” Officer of the Government of West Bengal in the name of the Candidate. SC/ST/OBC Certificate issued only in the name of the candidate will be accepted. However, in any case, SC/ST/OBC Certificate in the name of Candidate's relatives other than the candidate’s name will not be accepted. PH Certificate has to be issued by the Government Hospital).

 

Admission of a candidate is strictly provisional and subject to subsequent cancellation in case of occurrence of any intentional or unintentional error and concealment of fact/s.

After verification of requisite documents, the amount of Admission Fees and Prospectus Fees to be deposited at Cash Office [Room No. SG19 (P2)] of Hooghly Mohsin College, Hooghly on the same day.

This is to inform all concerned students admitted to B.Sc./B.Com.1st Year Honours Courses in Hooghly Mohsin Collegein 2017 that those students who have failed to provide their School-leaving Certificate/Transfer Certificate(Admission Cancellation Certificate if already admitted in some other College prior to taking admission in Hooghly Mohsin College) in the time of admission and promised to submit the same within 10 working days but didn't do that till today,i.e.,18.07.2017, are directed to furnish that latest by 21.07.2017. Failing which their admission will be treated as 'Cancelled'.

ONLINE ADMISSION FORM GENERATION AND SUBMISSION

  • The online admission form should contain the details like name, date of birth, guardian's name, address, courses applied for....................
  • A student can apply only in three courses for Honours and one for General through one form.
  • The student (General and Reserved categories like SC/ST ) has to check the manual of minimum eligibility criteria of marks before online submission.
  • A student should be able to take print out of his/her forms and prescribed challan for application fees.
  • A student will carry the challan to deposit the requisite fees in any branch of SBI / or through online bank deposit or through Billdesk gateway.

Admission Criteria

1. Students, who have passed 10+2 final examination or equivalent from the institution enlisted by The University of Burdwan (list available at the prescribed format of application) can apply for admission into undergraduate courses.

2. One applicant can opt for maximum three Honours and one General courses on the basis of eligibility criteria mentioned below.

3. After online submission of the form the applicant should deposit the amount of Rs.50/- (fee for application) + fee for bank online/offline to any branch of State Bank of India (upto banking hours) or through Billdesk gateway. Candidature will be cancelled if the said amount is not paid in due time.

4. In case of S.C./S.T./O.B.C.-A/O.B.C.-B candidates certificates must have been issued by M.P./M.L.A./Member of Zilla Parishat/Municipal Councillor/Group-A officer of this state.

5. Candidature is liable to be cancelled if any wrong data is produced in application.

 

CALCULATION OF AGGREGATE

As per instruction issued by the University of Burdwan vide Circular No. RC/PERM/ ADM/539 dated 08.05.07, the formula for calculation of aggregate for admission to the 1st year courses at UG level (Session 2017-2018) will be:

 

Aggregate = Language 1 + Language 2 + Sum of best 3 electives out of 4

  • Marks secured by WBCHSE candidates in Environmental Studies will not be counted for calculating aggregate. However, marks secured in Environmental Studies by non-WBCHSE candidates may be counted for calculating aggregate if that marks comes within the best three Electives.
  • If there is just one language, aggregate will have to be calculated with the single language and four best Electives. If there are only four Electives apart from the language, all the Four Electives should be considered for calculating aggregate.

(a) Candidates who have passed (10+2) Final Examination conducted by NOS/ IGNOU/ Rabindra Mukta Vidayalaya/NETAJI SUBHAS OPEN UNIVERSITY with at least five subjects of 100 marks each including at least one language subject (English or Bengali) and three conventional subjects will be considered for admission in the 1st year if found eligible.

(b) No candidate prior to 2014 will be entertained.

(c) In case of the candidates who passed HS Examination (Old Pattern/Old–Syllabus of WBCHSE) in 2014, aggregate calculation should be made by taking marks obtained in two languages subjects and best of the three elective subjects out of four subjects (including additional subject). This aggregate has to be converted to 500 from 1000 and the subject marks has to be converted to 100 from 200.

 

CALCULATION OF GRAND TOTAL

  • Grand Total can be obtained by adding the Aggregate with the score of the opted subject in which the applicant is willing to get admission as Honours Subject (Except Geology).

  • For Geology Honours, Grand total can be calculated by adding the Aggregate, Marks scored in Mathematics and Marks scored in best 2 electives (excluding languages and mathematics).

i) Relaxation of marks for SC & ST : 10% less than the General Category candidates.
ii) SC & ST candidates should not get less than 25% (10% for OBC–A & B) marks of the candidates last admitted in General category.
iii) No relaxation of marks is allowed for PH candidates.
iv) PH candidates can not apply for GEOLOGY Honours.

    • This Online Admission Portal is meant for the applicants who are willing to seek admission at Hooghly Mohsin College for B.A. / B.Sc./ B.Com. Part – I Honours / General for the ensuing session[i.e. 2017-2018].
    • This application is meant for provisional admission subject to approval of the University of Burdwan.
    • It is assumed that the information furnished in this application is true to the best of the knowledge and belief of the applicant.  In case of any false/ misleading information, the application will be summarily rejected.
    • Applicants willing to seek admission must commit to follow the rules and regulations of the college and the University of Burdwan, as may be amended from time to time.
    • Mere submission of application does not assure  admission.
    • In case of Admission, the decision of the Admission Committee/ College Authority will be final and no further queries will be entertained.
